TENNESSEE
In 2008, 67 new businesses in Tennessee created 7,506 jobs with a total investment of more than $2.6 billion. In the same year, 960 businesses underwent expansions, creating 14,875 jobs with a total investment of more than $2.3 billion. More than 1,000 projects also began in 2008, leading to 22,381 jobs with a total investment of approximately $5 billion. Foreign investors included Canada, Europe, and Japan, with investments totaling more than $1.8 billion.

ALABAMA
Alabama reported local investments; however, it did not report foreign investments. Alabama also reported investments by county, so we were able to identify those businesses only expanding in DeKalb and Jackson Counties. DeKalb County had a total expanding investment of more than $20 million in 2008. Jackson County had approximately $13 million in expanding investments in 2008.

GEORGIA

In 2007, 321 announcements for new and expanding businesses were made (199 for expanding and 122 for new). No information could be found regarding the total amount of investments.

NORTH CAROLINA
In 2008, 144 projects resulted in the creation of 19,350 jobs with a total investment of approximately $5.1 billion. In 2006, North Carolina received $26.1 billion in foreign investments.
